DMACC volleyball team gets three-set win over Hawkeye

 

Sophomore Abbi Brenizer of Norwalk had 12 kills and hit .750 in leading the DMACC volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Hawkeye Community College (HCC) October 15 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Set scores were 25-15, 25-14, 25-19.

 

Brenizer got her 12 kills from 16 attacks with no hitting errors as the Bears improved to 17-14 overall and 5-3 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

Sophomore Halia Mahi of Cedar Falls and freshmen Jaelynne Clarke of Alliance, Neb., Lily Huizenga of Orange City and Emma Liechti of Ankeny had five kills apiece as the Bears hit .444 in coming away with the win. They totaled 36 kills from 72 attacks with just four hitting errors.

 

Mahi topped DMACC in assists with 26 and sophomore Emma Jones of Readlyn led the way in digs with 11. Clarke had nine digs, Mahi came away with eight, sophomore Lexie Lane of Renwick finished with seven and freshman Lauren Sandvold of Cedar Falls contributed five digs and had a pair of ace serves. Brenizer led the Bears in blocks with four, including three block assists.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will play Western Iowa Technical Community College (WITCC) Oct. 17 at Sioux City. WITCC is 18-10 overall and 5-3 in the ICCAC.
