The DMACC women's cross country team finished third in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Cross Country Championships November 9 at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va.
The finished was the highest ever for the DMACC women's cross country team. The Bears scored 169 points and finished behind Mesa Community College (MCC) and Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC). MCC took the team championship with 51 points and PVCC was second with 67 points.
Nora Brady of Heartland Community College (HCC) was the individual winner, posting a time of 17 minutes, 34 seconds over the 5K course.
Sophomore Kayden Spencer of Boone led DMACC with a 10th-place finish and sophomore Grace Collins of Johnston was 12th. Spencer turned in a time of 19:01 and Collins crossed the finish line in 19:02. Both earned All-American honorable mention for their performances.
Freshman Jaycie Vohs of Galva, sophomore Abigail Harding of Iowa Falls, sophomore Tori Yunggebauer of Williamsburg and freshman Dakota Tromblay of Ogden rounded out DMACC's performance. Vohs was 35th in 19:56, Harding placed 50th in 20:25, Yunggebauer finished 62nd in 20:40 and Tromblay was 80th with a time of 21:07.
