DMACC women's cross country team wins Region 11 championship

 

Sophomore Kayden Spencer of Boone took medalist honors and four members of the DMACC women's cross country team finished seventh or better as the Bears won their first-ever National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division 2 Region 11 cross country championship October 25 at Ottumwa.

 

Spencer posted a time of 19 minutes, 21 seconds over the 5K course as the Bears scored 19 points and finished 32 points ahead of runner-up Iowa Western Community College (IWCC). Sophomore Grace Collins of Johnston finished second to Spencer with a time of 19:37 and freshman Jaycie Vohs of Galva was third in 19:38.

 

Sophomore Tori Yunggebauer of Williamsburg and freshman Abby Harding of Iowa Falls closed out DMACC's performance with sixth- and seventh-place finishes respectively. Yunggebauer's time was 20:31 and Harding posted a time of 20:49.

 

DMACC freshman Dakota Trombley of Ogden as ran in the meet and finished 12th with a time of 22:01.

 

The DMACC women's cross country team will run in the NJCAA Division 2 National Championship Nov. 9 at Richmond, Va.
