DMACC women's cross country team finishes second in Indian Hills Invitational

 

Sophomore Kayden Spencer of Boone finished seventh in the individual competition as she led the DMACC women's cross country team to a second-place finish in the Indian Hills Invitational October 11 at Ottumwa.

 

Spencer's time over the 5K course was 19 minutes, 39 seconds and she accounted for seven of the 63 points the Bears scored in finishing the meet 26 points behind Iowa Central Community College (ICCC).

 

Nora Brady of Heartland Community College (HCC) was the individual winner, posting a time of 18:04.

 

DMACC sophomore Grace Collins of Johnston joined Spencer with a top ten finish, placing eighth in 19:53. Freshman Jaycie Vohs of Galva and sophomore Tori Yunggebauer of Williamsburg were 11th and 15th respectively. Vohs crossed the finish line in 19:59 and Yunggebauer's time was 20:55.

 

Sophomore Abigail Harding of Iowa Falls and freshmen Ava Manning of Des Moines and Dakota Tromblay of Ogden also ran in the meet. Harding finished 22nd in 21:28, Manning was 26th in 21:55 and Tromblay was 28th in 22:06.

 

The DMACC women's cross country team will run in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 11 Championships Oct. 25 at Ottumwa.
