DMACC women's cross country team wins Trent Smith Invitational
  • Sophomore Kayden Spencer takes medalist honors with a time of 20 minutes
  • Sophomore Grace Collins and freshman Jaycie Vohs are second and third respectively
  • Five DMACC runners finish in the top seven

 

Sophomore Kayden Spencer of Boone took medalist honors as the DMACC women's cross country team won the Trent Smith Invitational Sept. 13 at Mason City.

 

The win was the second for the Bears in as many starts this fall. They opened the season with a victory in the Bill Buxton Invitational Aug. 20 at Indianola.

 

Spencer toured the 5K course in 20 minutes and four other DMACC runners finished in the top seven as the Bears scored 19 points and finished 17 points in front of Wartburg College (WC).

 

DMACC sophomore Grace Collins of Johnston and freshman Jaycie Vohs of Galva followed Spencer across the finish line in 20:03 and 20:16 respectively, giving the Bears the top three finishers. Freshman Abby Harding of Iowa Falls was sixth in 20:39 and sophomore Tori Yunggebauer of Williamsburg was seventh in 21:08.

 

DMACC also got a 13th-place finish from freshman Dakota Tromblay of Ogden. Her time was 22:11.

 

The DMACC women's cross country team will run in the Grand View Invitational Sept. 21 at Ankeny.
