DMACC women's cross country team is second in Indian Hills Invitational

 

Freshman Kayden Spencer of Boone took second place overall and led the DMACC women's cross country team to a second-place finish in the Indian Hills Invitational October 13 at Ottumwa.

 

Southeastern Community College (SECC) won the team championship with 33 points and DMACC scored 36 points in finishing second. Graceland University (GU) was third with 69 points.

 

SECC's Aisha Ramone took individual honors with a time of 18 minutes, 45 seconds on the 5K course.

 

Spencer posted a time of 19:19 in finishing second. Freshman Grace Collins of Johnston was fourth in 19:36 and freshman Tori Yunggebauer of Williamsburg was sixth in 19:46. DMACC sophomore Mkenzie Robinson of Marshalltown also finished in the top 10, turning in a time of 20:00 which was good for eighth place.

 

DMACC sophomores Jillian Prouty of Oelwein, Madison Beaune of Jewell and Mercedes Beaune of Jewell also competed in the meet. Prouty was 16th in 21:01, Madison Beaune finished in 18th place with a time of 21:18 and Mercedes Beaune was 28th in 23:55.

 

The DMACC women's cross country team will run in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Championships Oct. 28 at Creston.
