DMACC women's cross country team finishes third in Indian Hills Invitational

 

The DMACC women 's cross country team finished third in the Indian Hills Invitational Oct. 14 at Ottumwa.

 

The Bears scored 74 points in the meet. Graceland University (GU) won the team championship with 37 points and Southeastern Community College (SECC) was second with 54 points. GU's Ashlynn Perkins took the individual title with a time of 19 minutes, 11 seconds over the 5K course.

 

Sophomore Natalia Segura of Grimes led DMACC with a fourth-place finish in 19:41 and freshman Mkenzie Robinson of Marshalltown was sixth in 20:11. Freshman Madison Beaune of Jewell gave the Bears three finishers in the top 20 when she took 17th place with a time of 21:53.

 

Sophomore Natalie Martin of Norwalk and freshman Mercedes Beaune of Jewell rounded out DMACC's performance with 21st- and 26th-place finishes respectively. Martin crossed the finish line in 22:22 and Beaune was timed in 23:14.

 

DMACC sophomore Wendy Liera of LeGrand and freshman Jillian Prouty of Oelwein also competed in the meet. Liera was 27th with a time of 23:36 and Prouty finished in 28th place with a time of 24:06.

 

The DMACC women's cross country team will compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Championships Oct. 30 at Fort Dodge.
