Natalia Segura leads DMACC women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish in the Grand View Invitational

Sophomore Natalia Segura of Grimes finished fourth overall in leading the DMACC women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish in the Grand View Invitational September 24 at the DMACC cross country course in Ankeny.

 

Segura posted a time of 19 minutes, 35 seconds on the 5K course, leading the Bears to 116 points in the meet. Mount Mercy University (MMU) took the team championship with 50 points and Morgan Lawson of Grand View University (GVU) took medalist honors with a time of 18:13.

 

DMACC got a 10th-place finish from freshman Mkenzie Robinson of Marshalltown and sophomore Natalie Martin of Norwalk, freshman Madison Beaune of Jewell and sophomore Wendy Liera of LeGrand were 28th, 33rd and 41st respectively. Robinson toured the course in 20:30, Martin crossed the finish line in 22:01, Beaune posted a time of 22:40 and Liera was timed in 23:23.

 

DMACC freshmen Jillian Prouty of Oelwein and Mercedes Beaune of Jewell also ran in the meet. Prouty finished 48th in 23:55 and Beaune turned in a time of 24:23, good for 52nd place.

 

The DMACC women's cross country team will compete in the Indian Hills Invitational Oct. 14 at Ottumwa.
