DMACC women's cross country team places third in Bill Buxton Invitational

DMACC women's cross country team places third in Bill Buxton Invitational

 

The DMACC women's cross country team made its 2022 debut in the Bill Buxton Invitational Sept. 2 at Indianola and finished third.

 

The Bears scored 75 points in placing behind Simpson College (SC) and Loras College (LC). SC took the team championship with 18 points and LC was second with 43 points.

 

Madison Nelson of Bellevue University (BU) won the individual title, touring the 4K course in 16 minutes, 14 seconds.

 

Sophomore Natalia Segura of Grimes led DMACC with a fifth-place finish in 16:49. Freshman Mkenzie Robinson of Marshalltown was 16th and sophomore Natalie Martin of Norwalk and freshman Madison Beaune of Jewell were 17th and 18th respectively. Robinson posted a time of 18:12, Martin crossed the finish line in 18:52 and Beaune was timed in 18:53.

 

Other DMACC results saw freshman Mercedes Beaune of Jewell finish in 19th place. Freshman Jillian Prouty of Oelwein was 20th and sophomore Wendy Liera of LeGrand was 21st. Mercedes Beaune was timed in 20:36, Prouty finished with a time of 20:54 and Liera posted a time of 21:02.

 

The DMACC women's cross country team will run in the Les Duke Invitational Sept. 10 at Grinnell.
