The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has announced the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 11 All-Region and ICCAC All-Conference Volleyball Teams and the recipients include five members of the DMACC volleyball team.
Sophomores Abbi Brenizer of Norwalk and Emma Jones of Readlyn were named to the all-region first team and Brenizer was named to the Region 11 All-Tournament Team. Sophomore Halia Mahi of Cedar Falls was named to the all-region second team and freshman Emma Liechti of Ankeny was named to the all-region third team. Freshman Jaelynne Clark of Alliance, Neb., received all-region honorable mention recognition.
Brenizer led DMACC in kills with 424 and was also the conference leader in that category. She hit .341 with those kills coming from 971 attacks with 93 attack errors. Brenizer averaged 2.83 kills per set. Her season also included 10 assists, 41 ace serves and 142 blocks, 124 of which were block assists. Brenizer ranked sixth nationally in total blocks.
Jones, a defensive standout, led the ICCAC in digs with 740 and ranked fourth in the ICCAC in digs per set at 5.14. Her season also included 85 assists and 46 ace serves. Jones also had five kills from a six attacks with one attack error for a .667 hitting percentage, ranking fourth in the ICCAC in that category.
Mahi led DMACC in assists with 1,030 and ranked fifth in the ICCAC in assists per set at 7.69. Her season also included 80 kills, 36 ace serves, 373 digs and 26 blocks, 24 of which were block assists. Mahi averaged 2.78 digs per set.
Liechti led DMACC in blocks with 158, including 129 block assists. She finished fifth in the ICCAC in blocks per set at 1.05. Liechti was also one of DMACC's top hitters with 239 kills from 674 attacks with 71 attack errors for a .249 hitting percentage. Her season also included six assists and 51 digs.
Clark was another key hitter for the Bears, collecting 240 kills from 857 attacks with 74 attack errors for a .194 hitting percentage. Her season also included 10 assists, 21 ace serves, 528 digs and 42 blocks, 26 of which were block assists.
The DMACC volleyball team finished the 2024 season with a 23-18 record and an 8-3 record in the ICCAC, good for fourth place. The Bears had a 10-2 record inside the DMACC gymnasium, a 3-7 record in road matches and a 10-9 record on neutral courts. The Bears were 14-8 in three-set matches, 5-6 in four-set matches and 4-4 in five-set matches.
