DMACC volleyball team drops 3-0 decision to Indian Hills CC

 

The DMACC volleyball team fell to 21-17 for the season following a 3-0 loss to Indian Hills Community College (IHCC) October 28 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

IHCC, ranked 15th in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I poll, got the win behind set scores of 25-13, 25-17, 25-21.

 

DMACC is ranked 25th in the NJCAA Division II poll.

 

Freshman Emma Liechti of Ankeny led DMACC with six kills and a .462 hitting percentage, getting those six kills from 13 attacks with no hitting errors. As a team, the Bears hit .051 with 20 kills from 79 attacks and 16 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Halia Mahi of Cedar Falls led DMACC in assists with 16 and sophomore Emma Jones of Readlyn reached double figures in digs with 12. Sophomore Abbi Brenizer of Norwalk led DMACC in blocks with five, including four block assists. Freshman Danica Wrage of Waterloo had four kills, including three block assists.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will close out the regular season with a home match against Marshalltown Community College Oct. 30 inside the DMACC gymnasium. Match time is 7 p.m. The Bears are 7-3 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). MCC is 8-17 overall and 0-10 in the ICCAC.
