The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Abbi Brenizer the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Volleyball for the week of October 14 to 20.
Brenizer, a sophomore from Norwalk, is being honored by the conference for the second consecutive week and the third time this season. She was also honored the week of Oct. 7 to 13 and the week of Sept. 2 to 8.
Brenizer is one of two members of the DMACC volleyball team to be honored by the conference this season. Emma Jones, a sophomore from Readlyn, was honored for her defensive play the week of Oct. 7 to 13.
Brenizer recorded 26 kills and hit .449 in leading the Bears to wins over Hawkeye Community College (HCC) and Western Iowa Technical Community College (WITCC) during the week. She had 12 kills and hit .750 in a 3-0 win over HCC and came away with 14 kills and a .303 hitting percentage in a 3-1 win over WITCC. Brenizer's 12 kills against HCC came from 16 attacks with no hitting errors and her 14 kills against WITCC came from 33 attacks with four hitting errors.
Brenizer had one ace serve, three digs and four blocks in the win over HCC and she had one ace serve, one dig and one block assists in the win over WITCC.
Brenizer leads DMACC in kills with 312 and is averaging 2.71 kills per set. She is fourth in the ICCAC in kills and is hitting .347 with those 312 kills coming from 700 attacks with 69 hitting errors. Brenizer's season also includes six assists, 33 ace serves, 103 digs and a team-high 108 blocks, including 96 block assists.
