DMACC's Abbi Brenizer named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Volleyball

DMACC's Abbi Brenizer named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Volleyball

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Abbi Brenizer the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Volleyball (offense) for the week of October 7 to 13.

 

Brenizer, a sophomore from Norwalk, is being honored for the second time this season and she is one of two members of the DMACC volleyball team to be honored by the conference this season. She was also honored for her defensive performances the week of Sept. 2 to 8.

 

Emma Jones, a sophomore from Readlyn, is also being honored the week of Oct. 7 to 13 for her defensive performances in five matches.

 

Brenizer had 56 kills in 156 attacks as the Bears went 2-3 in five matches during the week. She averaged 3.29 kills per set and hit .341. Brenizer's week included 13 blocks on defense.

 

Brenizer had 10 kills and hit .217 in a 3-0 loss to Kirkwood Community College (KCC) on Oct. 9. She collected 19 kills and hit .486 in a 3-1 win over Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) on Oct. 11 and came away with five kills and a .200 hitting percentage in a 3-0 loss to Parkland College (PC) also on Oct. 11. Brenizer had 11 kills and hit .308 in DMACC's 3-0 win over Spoon River Community College (SRCC) on Oct. 12 and came away with 11 kills and a .370 hitting percentage in a 3-0 loss to Heartland (Ill.) Community College, also on Oct. 12.

 

For the season, Brenizer has 298 kills and hitting .349 with those kills coming from 667 attacks with 65 hitting errors. She is averaging 2.68 kills per set.

 

Brenizer's season also includes five assists, 31 ace serves, 102 digs and 106 blocks, including 95 block assists.
