DMACC's Emma Jones named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Volleyball
  • Jones had 100 digs in the five matches the Bears played during the week
  • Jones had 23 digs and three ace serves in a loss to Heartland CC
  • Jones is averaging 4.87 digs per set

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Emma Jones the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Volleyball (defense) for the week of Oct. 7 to 13.

 

Jones, a sophomore from Readlyn, is being honored by the conference for the first time this season and she is one of two members of the DMACC volleyball team to be honored by the conference this season.

 

Sophomore Abbi Brenizer of Norwalk is also being honored the week of Oct. 7 to 13 and she was honored the week of Sept. 2 to 8.

 

Jones had 100 digs and eight ace serves as DMACC compiled a 2-3 record in five matches during the week.

 

Jones collected 22 digs and had one ace serve in 3-0 loss to Kirkwood Community College (KCC) on Oct. 9 and had 17 digs and two ace serves in a 3-1 win over Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) on Oct; 11. She came away with 17 digs and two ace serves in a 3-0 loss to Parkland College (PC), also on Oct. 11 and had 21 digs in a 3-0 win over Spoon River Community College (SRCC) on Oct. 12. Jones closed out the week with 23 digs and three ace serves in a 3-0 loss to Heartland (Ill.) Community College, also on Oct. 12.

Jones is second in the ICCAC in digs and fourth in digs per set. Jones has 511 digs and is averaging 4.87 digs per set. Her season also includes three kills and 30 ace serves.
