Flathers named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Volleyball

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Emma Flathers the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Volleyball (Offense) for the week of September 11 to 17.

 

Flathers, a sophomore from Treynor, is one of two DMACC volleyball players to be honored by the ICCAC for the week of Sept. 11 to 17. Sophomore Kenya Prescott of Carroll was also named the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Volleyball (Defense).

 

Flathers had 189 assists as the Bears, ranked 19th in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, went 4-1 during the week. She contributed 38 assists in a 3-0 win over then 14th-ranked Northeast (Neb.) Community College on Sept. 13 and came away with 30 in a 3-0 loss to North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) on Sept. 15. The Bears also played Bismarck State College (BSC) on the 15th and came away with a 3-0 win with Flathers getting 56 assists. She had 32 and 33 assists respectively in 3-0 wins over Central Lakes College (CLC) and Minnesota State Community & Technical College (MSCTC) on Sept. 16. Flathers averaged 11.12 assists per set during the week.

 

Flathers has 577 assists for the Bears, who are 14-3 on the season and 4-0 in the ICCAC. She is averaging 10.30 assists per set which is good for second in the conference and seventh nationally. Her season also includes 56 kills, 23 ace serves, 151 digs and 32 blocks, including 25 block assists.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will face Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) Sept. 21 at Fort Dodge. The Tritons, ranked eighth in NJCAA Division II, are 17-2 overall and 3-1 in the ICCAC.
