The DMACC volleyball team improved to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with a 3-0 victory over North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) August 30 at Mason City.
Set scores were 25-10, 25-8, 28-26.
Sophomore Zophi Hendricks of Defiance led the Bears to the win with 15 kills and a ,407 hitting percentage. Hendricks got her 15 kills from 27 attacks with four hitting errors. Sophomore Eden Wilson of Conrad had nine kills and sophomore Coryl Matheny of Glenwood came away with five.
Sophomore Emma Flathers of Treynor led DMACC in assists with 32 and sophomore Monica Mirembe of Ankeny contributed three ace serves. Sophomore Kenya Prescott of Carroll led four DMACC players in double figures in digs with 21. Flathers had 13 digs, Matheny finished with 11 and sophomore Jerica Heintz of Polk City had 10.
The DMACC volleyball team will step away from conference play with a match against the William Penn University Junior Varsity today inside the DMACC gymnasium. Match time is 5:30 p.m.
