Four DMACC volleyball players earn all-conference and all-region honors

Four members of the DMACC volleyball team have been recognized for their play during the season by earning all-conference, all-region and Region XI-B all-tournament postseason honors. The teams were announced November 7 by the Iowa Community College Athletic Association (ICCAC).

 

DMACC players honored were sophomore Sara Hansen of Hudson and freshmen Eden Wilson of Conrad, Kenya Prescott of Carroll and Zophi Hendricks of Defiance. Hansen was named to the ICCAC All-Conference First Team, the All-Region XI-B First Team and the Region XI-B All-Tournament Team as a setter, Wilson and Prescott earned All-Conference and All-Region XI-B second-team honors and were also named to the Region XI-B All-Tournament Team as an outside hitter and libero respectively. Hendricks was named to the all-conference third team as an outside hitter.

 

Hansen finished sixth in the ICCAC in assists with 931, averaging 8.78 assists per set, the third best in the conference. Hansen, who finished 22nd in the nation in assists per set, accumulated 1,778 assists, 681 digs, 91 blocks and 184 kills during her two seasons at DMACC. She broke numerous DMACC volleyball records and is now fourth in assists in a single season, third in career assists per set, tenth in assists in a single season and sixth in assists per set in a single season.

 

In addition to her 931 assists, Hansen's 2022 season included 133 kills and a .332 hitting percentage with her 133 kills coming from 371 attacks with 10 hitting errors. She finished the season with 18 ace serves, 323 digs and 47 blocks, including 43 block assists.

 

Wilson led the Bears in kills this season with 416. She finished the season with a .264 hitting percentage, getting those kills from 1,131 attacks with 117 hitting errors. Her season also included seven assists, 97 digs and 42 blocks, including 39 block assists.

 

Wilson was fourth in the conference in kills per set at 3.22 and her 416 kills placed her fourth in total kills. She ranked 16th nationally in total kills and fourth in the ICCAC in hitting percentage.

 

Prescott led the conference and was 16th nationally in digs per set at 5.66. She was second in the conference and seventh nationally in total digs with 758.

 

Prescott broke two DMACC volleyball records during the season and is now fourth in digs for a single season and first in digs per set for a single season.

 

Prescott's season also included one kill, 106 assists and 26 ace serves.

 

Hendricks finished 17th in the conference in kills per set at 2.33 and was 19th in total kills at 279. She recorded a season-high 19 kills in a 3-1 loss to Neosho County Community College (NCCC) on Oct. 14 and had a season-high .409 hitting percentage in a 3-1 win over Metropolitan Community College (MCC) on Oct. 1.

 

Hendricks' finished the season with a .188 hitting percentage, getting her 279 kills from 960 attacks with 99 hitting errors. Her season also included seven assists, one ace serve, 104 digs and 43 blocks, including 34 block assists.

 

The DMACC volleyball team concluded the season with a 22-15 record and a 6-3 mark in the ICCAC. The Bears reached the finals of the Region XI-B Volleyball Tournament where they dropped a 3-2 decision to seventh-ranked Kirkwood Community College (KCC).
