DMACC volleyball team drops 3-0 decision to Iowa Central CC

 

The DMACC volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play behind a 3-0 defeat to Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) September 28 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

The Tritons, ranked sixth in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, defeated the 12th-ranked Bears by scores of 25-22, 25-18, 25-11. The loss send the Bears to 14-8 overall and 4-1 in the ICCAC.

 

Freshman Zophi Hendricks of Defiance led DMACC in kills with eight and freshmen Eden Wilson of Conrad and Monica Mirmebe of Ankeny had seven and six kills respectively. DMACC hit .142 on 27 attacks from 106 attacks with 12 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Sara Hansen of Hudson had 22 assists in the loss and freshmen Keyna Prescott of Carroll and Maddie Dunham of Nevada finished with 16 and 10 digs respectively.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will host the DMACC Invitational today and Oct. 1. The Bears will play Rock Valley Community College (RVCC) and Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) in matches today and will face Metropolitan (Kan.) Community College (MCC) and John Wood Community College (JWCC) in matches Oct. 1. DMACC was a 3-0 winner over MCC in the Cowley Invitational Sept. 24 at Arkansas City, Kan.
