DMACC's Kylie Henry named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Volleyball
  • Henry recorded 17 blocks during the week
  • Henry had a season-high six blocks in a win over Northeast Oklahoma A&M
  • Henry also recorded 26 kills and a .426 hitting percentage during the week

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Kylie Henry the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II volleyball (defense) for the week of Sept. 19 to 25.

 

Henry, a freshman from Urbana, is the third DMACC volleyball player to be honored by the conference this season. Freshman Emma Flathers of Treynor was honored for her offensive performance for the week of Sept. 19 to 25 and freshman Kenya Prescott was honored for her defensive performance the week of Sept. 12 to 18.

 

Henry, a middle blocker, had 17 blocks as the Bears recorded four wins in five matches during the week. Their lone loss came against second-ranked Cowley County Community College (CCC) in the Cowley Invitational Sept. 23 and 24 at Arkansas City, Kan. Henry had a season-high six blocks in a 3-0 win over Northeast Oklahoma A&M in the Bears' tournament opener.

 

Henry's week also included 17 digs, 26 kills and a .426 hitting percentage.

 

For the season, Henry has 86 kills and a .249 hitting percentage with those kills coming from 241 attacks with 26 hitting errors. She leads the Bears in blocks with 61, including 51 block assists. Henry's season also includes five assists, seven ace serves and 44 digs.

The DMACC volleyball team, ranked 12th in NJCAA Division II, will host Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) in an ICCAC matchup tonight. Match time is 7 p.m. inside the DMACC gymnasium. The Bears are undefeated in conference play at 4-0. ICCC is ranked sixth in NJCAA Division II. The Tritons are also 4-0 in the conference and 17-4 overall.
