DMACC volleyball team takes two matches from William Penn JV
  • Freshman Eden Wilson had 10 kills as the Bears took first match, 3-0
  • Wilson's 17 kills led DMACC to 3-0 win in second match
  • Sophomore Sara Hansen had 45 kills in the two wins

 

The DMACC volleyball team improved to 4-2 for the season with a pair of wins over the William Penn University junior varsity (WPUJV) August 23 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Freshman Eden Wilson of Conrad had 10 kills as the Bears took the opener from WPUJV 1, 25-17, 25-8, 25-15. Wilson's 17 kills led DMACC to a 25-16, 25-13, 25-20 win over WPUJV 2 in the second match.

 

Sophomore Haylee Hidlebugh of Adel had seven kills and freshman Zophi Hendricks of Defiance contributed six and DMACC hit .216 in winning the first match. The Bears came away with 36 kills in 102 attacks with 14 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Sara Hansen of Hudson finished with 21 assists and two ace serves and sophomore Erin Bathie of Ames also had a pair of ace serves. Hansen also led the Bears in digs with 10 and freshman Kenya Prescott of Carroll added nine.

 

Hansen, Hidlebugh and freshman Karlee Timm of Victor followed Wilson with five kills apiece for DMACC in the second match. The Bears hit .276, getting 38 kills from 98 attacks with 11 hitting errors.

 

Hansen led the way in assists with 24, giving her a total of 45 in the two matches, and Bathie had five ace serves. Prescott had 10 digs and Hansen finished with nine and Hidlebugh and freshman Kylie Henry of Urbana had three solo blocks apiece.

The DMACC volleyball team will play Indian Hills Community College (IHCC) Aug. 29 at Ottumwa. IHCC is a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I program and is ranked 19th in the NJCAA Division I poll. The Warriors are 5-0 this season.
