DMACC women's golf team wins Redtail Spring Shootout

 

Three members of the DMACC women's golf team, sophomore Halle Hagberg of Polk City, freshman Haley Loonan of Gilbert and sophomore Anne van Hemert of Eindhoven, Netherlands, finished fifth or better as the Bears brought home the team championship in the Redtail Spring Shootout April 3 at Irv Warren Golf Course in Waterloo.

 

Hagberg finished third with an 83, Loonan was fourth with an 85 and van Hemert tied for fifth with an 86 as the Bears posted an 18-hole score of 343 and finished seven strokes ahead of runner-up North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC).

 

NIACC's Megan DeLong took medalist honors with a six-over-par 78,

 

Freshman Rebekah Carlson of Jewell and sophomore Lilly Houtakker of Solon also played for DMACC. Carlson finished 10th with an 89 and Houtakker tied for 20th with a 96.

 

Two other DMACC golfers, freshman Abby Cook of Story City and sophomore Viola Welsh of Fairfield, completed as individuals. Cook tied for 12th with a 91 and Welsh was 16th win a 93.

 

The DMACC women's golf team will play in the Statesman Shootout April 9 at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa.
