- Tournament will be the first national championship hosted by DMACC
- NJCAA began sponsoring Division I and Division III championships in 2022
- Cedar Pointe's original nine holes are one of oldest golf courses in Iowa
The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has announced that DMACC-Boone Campus will host the first-ever 2025 NJCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship. The tournament will be played May 13 to 16 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.
"DMACC, along with its great staff, including President Rob Denson, Director of Athletics B.J. McGinn and Women's Head Golf Coach Chris Seaboch, will partner with the staff at Visit Boone County to provide a championship atmosphere for all involved, including coaches, players and spectators," said McGinn. "Our community is appreciative of the chance to host such a high-class event."
Cedar Pointe is a beautiful and unique golf course. The original nine holes, a classic style golf course with trees lining both sides of most holes, were designed in the early 1900s. The second nine, more links style, was laid out almost 100 years later. Shot shaping is a premium on the front nine that features just two water hazards and seven sand bunkers. Players will see a more open style course when they make the turn with less trees but many more sand bunkers and water hazards. Out-of-bounds makers line many of the holes.
The Cedar Pointe Clubhouse, recently remodeled, features a full bar, multiple wall-mounted TVs and ample seating. The facility's Events Room comfortably seats large crowds and provides accommodations for many gatherings.
"DMACC is excited to host the 2025 NJCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships," McGinn said. "We know the Cedar Pointe course, along with its staff, specifically the Pat Clemons Family and course superintendent Cory Henson, will have the venue in championship condition."
The NJCAA has been sponsoring women's golf since 1976 and began the Division I and Division III championships in 2022.
"We are looking forward to having the inaugural NJCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship this coming spring," said NJCAA Division II Women's Golf Chair Kevin O'Connor." Cedar Pointe Golf Course and the Des Moines Area will provide the teams and individuals with a wonderful venue for this event."
