DMACC women's golf team finishes third in Grand View Invitational

 

The DMACC women's golf team closed out the fall season with a third-place finish in the Grand View Invitational October 14 and 15 at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.

 

The Bears posted rounds of 343 and 351 to finish the 36-hole tournament with 694 strokes. Grand View University (GVU) won the team championship with 626 strokes and North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) finished second with 680 strokes. NIACC's Meghan DeLong won medalist honors with a four-over-par 146 on rounds of 70 and 76.

 

Sophomore Halle Hagberg of Polk City led DMACC with a tie for eighth place. Hagberg shot rounds of 84 and 86 for a two-day total of 170.

 

Sophomore Anne van Hemert of Eindhoven, Netherlands finished tenth with a 36-hole score of 171 on rounds of 87 and 84 and freshman Haley Loonan of Gilbert tied for 16th with a 176. She posted rounds of 87 and 89.

 

Other DMACC results saw sophomore Viola Welsh of Fairfield tie for 18th place and sophomore Lilly Houtakker of Solon tied for 20th place. Freshman Abby Cook of Story City closed out DMACC's performance with a 25th-place finish. Welsh shot rounds of 85 and 92 for a 36-hole score of 177. Houtakker finished with a 179 on rounds of 87 and 92 and Cook posted a two-day total of 187 on rounds of 93 and 94.
