- Sophomores Anne van Hemert leads DMACC with a third place finish

Four members of the DMACC women's golf team placed seventh or better as the Bears came away with the team championship in the women's section of the Jim Curell Invitational Sept. 27 at Cedar Point Golf Course in Boone.
Sophomore Anne van Hemert of Eindhoven, Netherlands, shot a 10-over-par 82, good for third place in the individual competition, as the Bears posted a score of 339 and finished four strokes in front of Iowa Central Community College (ICCC).
ICCC's Ivanna Becerra-Diaz took medalist honors with a three-over-par 75.
Three other DMACC golfers finished among the top seven. Sophomore Halle Hagberg of Polk City tied for fourth with an 83 and freshmen Rebekah Carlson of Jewell and Haley Loonan of Gilbert tied for seventh with 87s.
Sophomore Lilly Houtakker of Solon rounded out DMACC's performance with a 91, trying for 14th place.
Two other members of the DMACC women's golf team competed as individuals. Freshman Viola Welsh of Fairfield tied for 11th with an 89 and freshman Abby Cook of Story City finished 18th with a 98.
