The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has announced the 2024 Division I Women's Golf Regional Awards and four members of the DMACC women's golf team have been recognized for their play during the spring season.
Sophomore Erin Winker of Carroll and freshman Anne van Hemert of Eindhoven, Netherlands were named to the second all-region team and sophomore Meg Thompson of Greene and freshman Annie Burns of Algona received honorable mention recognition.
Winker, van Hemert, Thompson and Burns led the Bears to three second place finishes during the 2024 spring season. DMACC finished second in the Evangel Spring Invite March 12 at Nixa, Mo., the Iowa Central Spring Invite April 12 and 13 at Fort Dodge and the Redtail Spring Shootout April 22 at Dike. Other top finishes included an eighth at the Bulldog Spring Invitational April 2 and 3 at Lincoln, Neb., and a fifth in the Plains District Championship April 28 and 29 at Dodge City, Kan.
Winker's top finish was a fourth in the Evangel Spring Invite. She tied for 21st in the Bulldog Spring Invitational and tied for 16th in the Iowa Central Spring Invite. Winker tied for 12th in the Redtail Spring Shootout and tied for 25th in the Plains District Championship.
Anne van Hemert finished third in the Iowa Central Spring Invite, third in the Redtail Spring Shootout and sixth in the Evangel Spring Invite. Her other results included a tie for 27th in the Bulldog Spring Invitational and tie for 16th in the North Plains District Championship.
Thompson's best finish was a second in the Redtail Spring Shootout. She had another top 10 finish with a ninth in the Evangel Spring Invite. Other finishes included a tie for 38th in the Bulldog Spring Invitational, a 12th in the Iowa Central Spring Invite and a tie for 24th in the Plains District Championship.
Burns finished fourth in the Iowa Central Spring Invite and was seventh in the Evangel Spring Invite. She tied for eighth in the Redtail Spring Shootout and tied for 25th in the Plains District Championship.
