The DMACC women's golf team begins the fall season in the NIACC Invite September 8 at the Mason City Country Club in Mason City.

Head coach Chris Seaboch has just two sophomores on the roster in Ashley Martin of Nassau, Bahamas, and Dani Nolde of Ogallala, Neb. Martin earned first-team all-region honors last spring. Her top finishes included placing seventh in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) North Plains District and a 33rd-place finish in the NJCAA Women's National Championship.

Incoming freshmen include Rylee Roberts of Pleasant Hill, Meg Thompson of Greene, Kaylin Petrak of Grimes and Erin Winker of Carroll.

Seaboch said he will put an emphasis on getting as many players as many rounds as possible during the fall season.

"Everybody is going to get an opportunity to play when it counts and we'll see what they can do," Seaboch said. "On the women's side, we will evaluate them more and work on swing changes and things. It gives us two months to evaluate what they are doing and what we need to work on during the wintertime. We're not going to make any big changes during the fall season."

Seaboch said he has seen some good things from the women's team during practice sessions.

"We've got four freshmen and two sophomores, so we're young." Seaboch said. "We've seen their scores and we are really impressed with what we've seen (in practice sessions.) I think our ball striking capabilities are better than I thought they would be and our short game is about where I thought it would be. That's really encouraging because we can make changes in the short game relatively quickly and they show up relatively quickly and they're not impacting the full swing. If we can get some work in with the short game, I think we will really grow a lot this fall."

The DMACC women's golf team will play six tournaments this fall, including the DMACC Invitational Sept. 16 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone. The season concludes with the Grand View Invite Oct. 10 and 11 at Otter Creek Golf Club in Ankeny.
