DMACC women's golf team finishes third in NIACC Spring Invitational

 

The DMACC women's golf team came away with a third-place finish in the NIACC Spring Invitational April 19 at the Mason City Country Club in Mason City.

 

Waldorf University took the team championship with an 18-hole score of 325 and DMACC posted a 341 in finishing third.

 

DMACC freshman Ashley Michel of Nassau, Bahamas, shared medalist honors with Amanda Karvala of Waldorf University. Both shot five-over-par 77 on the par-72 layout.

 

Other DMACC results included a tie for sixth by Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Krista Swenson of Story City. CoFR Quinn Eslinger of Afton tied for 14th, freshman Taylor Balsley of Ames tied for 18th and CoFR Frannie Brown of Grundy Center finished in 25th place.

 

Swenson posted a score of 83, Eslinger turned in an 89 and Balsley shot a 92. Brown posted a 103.

 

The DMACC women's golf team will play in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Plains District Qualifier April 25 and 26 at Junction City, Kan.
