DMACC women's golf team finishes fourth in Ron Streck Invitational

 

The DMACC women's golf team posted a 356 on the second day of the Ron Streck Invitational March 15 at Meadowbrook Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., and finished tournament play in fourth place.

 

Columbia College took the team championship with a 36-hole score of 673 and DMACC was fourth a 726. The Bears finished 36 strokes in front of Cottey College and 48 strokes ahead of Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) rival Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC).

 

DMACC was led by freshman Ashley Michel of Nassau, Bahamas. Michel shot an 83 on her second round to go with an 82 in her first round and finished fourth in the individual competition with a 36-hole total of 165.

 

The Bears got a 12th-place tie for Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Krista Swenson of Story City and a 19th-place finish from freshman Taylor Balsley of Ames. Swenson shot 83 on her second round and had a 36-hole score of 178. Balsley shot an 89 to go with a 96 on her first round and finished at 185.

 

DMACC CoFR Quinn Eslinger of Afton finished in 32nd place and freshman Dani Nolde of Ogallala, Neb., and CoFR Frannie Brown of Grundy Center were 41st and 42nd respectively. Eslinger turned in a 101 on her second round and finished at 198. Nolde came away with a 36-hole score of 221 after a 112 on her second round and Brown was at 225 following a 106 on her second round.

 

The DMACC women's golf team will host the DMACC Invitational April 6 at the Ames Golf and Country Club in Ames.
