DMACC women's golf team is fourth after first round of NW Iowa Collegiate Showcase

 

The DMACC women's golf team is in fourth place following the first round of the NW Iowa Collegiate Showcase Oct. 11 at the Spencer Golf and Country Club in Spencer.

 

The Bears posted an opening round of 362 and trail Dakota Wesleyan University (DWU), Briar Cliff University (BCU) and Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC). DWU shot an opening round 341, BCU posted a 353 and ILCC is third at 355. DWU's Megan Hinker leads the individual competition following an opening round six-over-par 78.

 

DMACC was led by Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Krista Swenson of Story City. She shot an 86 and is in fifth place. Freshman Ashley Michel of Nassau, Bahamas, is tied for seventh after shooting an 88 and CoFR Quinn Eslinger of After is tied for 15th after posting a 92.

 

Freshmen Taylor Balsley of Ames and Dani Nolde of Ogallala, Neb., and CoFR Frannie Brown of Grundy Center rounded out DMACC's opening round. Balsley shot a 96 and is tied for 23rd place, Nolde turned in a 97 and is tied for 26th and Brown shot a 98 and is tied for 28th place.

 

The tournament concludes today at the Spencer Golf and Country Club.
