DMACC women's golf team is third at halfway mark of NJCAA Region XI Tournament

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC women's golf team is in third place at the halfway mark of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Tournament at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.

 

The tournament's first round was played April 19 and the second round was contested on April 20. Rounds three and four will be played April 26 and 27, also at Otter Creek Golf Course.

 

DMACC opened tournament play with a 364 and posted a 361 on the second day for a 36-hole score of 725. Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) tops the scoreboard at 647 and Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) is second with a score of 664.

 

Lisa Lied of IWCC and Bianca Findley of Southwestern Community College (SWCC) share medalist honors with 36-hole scores of 155.

 

Sophomore Kylie Nichols of Ogden leads DMACC's performance after the first two days, carding rounds of 86 and 87 for a 36-hole score of 173. Sophomore Alison Schweers of Carroll is one stroke behind Nichols at 174 on rounds of 86 and 88 and sophomore Meghan Matherly of Ankeny rests at 180 on rounds of 92 and 88. Freshman Abi Tinlin of Des Moines rounds out the Bears' effort with a 198 total. She posted rounds of 100 and 98.
