DMACC women's golf team finishes seventh in CSM/MU Spring Invitational

After seeing the season-opening tournament cancelled because of inclement weather, the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's golf team finally got the season underway with participation in the CSM/MU Spring Invitational April 2 at Fremont, Neb.

 

The Bears finished seventh with a 36-hole score of 785, posting rounds of 394 and 391. The University of Jamestown took the team championship with a 695 total and Tiffany Scheele of Midland University won medalist honors with a two-round total of 167. Scheele shot rounds of 82 and 85.

 

Sophomore Kylie Nichols of Ogden led DMACC with a 36-hole score of 180 on rounds of 93 and 87. Nichols tied for 18th place in the individual competition.

 

Other DMACC results included a 192 by sophomore Alison Schweers of Carroll, a 193 by sophomore Meghan Matherly of Ankeny and a 220 by freshman Abigail Tinlin of Des Moines. Schweers shot rounds of 93 and 99 and finished in 29th place. Matherly placed 30th on rounds of 97 and 96 and Tinlin finished 45th on rounds of 111 and 109.

 

The DMACC women's golf team will play in the Simpson Invitational April 10 at Indianola.
