DMACC women's golf team finishes second in NIACC Invitational

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's golf team opened the fall season with a second-place finish in the NIACC Invitational September 10 at Mason City.

 

Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) won the team championship with 336 strokes and DMACC posted a score of 344 in finishing second. The Bears finished 15 strokes in front of third-place North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC). Southwestern Community College's Bianca Findlay took medalist honors with a four-over-par 76.

 

DMACC was led by sophomores Kylie Nichols of Ogden and Alison Schweers of Carroll. Both posted scores of 80 and tied for third place in the individual competition.

 

Sophomore Meghan Matherly of Ankeny and freshman Abi Tinlin of Des Moines rounded out DMACC's performance. Matherly shot an 88 and tied for tenth and Tinlin shot a 96 and finished in 16th place.

 

The DMACC women's golf team will play in the Buena Vista Invitational September 21 and 22 at Storm Lake.
