Four DMACC women golfers earn all-region honors

Four members of the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's golf team were named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region XI team announced May 4 by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

Sophomore Jamie Bellingham of Auckland, New Zealand, was named to the first team, sophomore Kortney Orr of Columbus Junction earned second-team honors and freshmen Kylie Nichols of Ogden and Alison Schweers of Carroll earned honorable mention recognition.

 

Bellingham, an All-American as a freshman, finished third in the NJCAA Region XI Championship with a 72-hole score of 309 on rounds of 79, 80, 79, 71. Orr posted rounds of 81, 86, 91 and 92 for a 72-hole score of 350 and finished ninth. Nichols and Schweers finished 11th and 12th respectively. Nichols was at 353 on rounds of 92, 90, 88 and 83 and Schweers turned in scores of 86, 96, 97 and 83 for a 72-hole total of 362.

 

All four DMACC women golfers will play in the NJCAA Women's Golf Championship May 14 to 17 at Longbow Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz.
