- Sophomore Reanna Hutchinson leads DMACC with 17 points
- Freshman Eviyon Richardson, sophomore Jaden Ainley and freshman Mary Walker reach double figures with 13, 12 and 11 points respectively
- Bears shoot 40 percent in winning their second consecutive game
Sophomore Reanna Hutchinson of Eau Claire, Wis., led four players in double figures with 17 points as the DMACC women's basketball team handed Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) a 78-58 loss January 3 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
Hutchinson was 6-of-16 from the field, including 3-of-8 from three point range, and made both of her free throw attempts in leading the Bears to their second consecutive win.
Freshman Eviyon Richardson of Waterloo tallied 13 points, sophomore Jaden Ainley of Clear Lake came away with 12 and freshman Mary Walker of Fonda had 11 as DMACC improved to 8-6 overall and 4-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).
The Bears led throughout the game. They were up 18-10 at the end of the first quarter, 38-27 at halftime and 56-39 at the end of the third quarter.
DMACC shot 40 percent in the win. The Bears made 29 of 72 field goal attempts and were 9-of-29 from three-point range. They connected on 11 of 17 free throw attempts.
Freshman Joy Beran of Riceville pulled down 10 rebounds in leading DMACC to a 46-32 advantage on the boards. Hutchinson and sophomore Kennedy Jones of Oak Park, Ill., had five rebounds apiece and Ainley grabbed four. Jones and Ainley dished out four assists apiece and Richardson topped DMACC in steals with two.
The DMACC women's basketball team will face Ellsworth Community College (ECC) Jan. 6 at Iowa Falls. ECC is 6-9 overall and 1-5 in the ICCAC.
