Three DMACC women's basketball players earn all-region honors

Three members of the DMACC women's basketball team were named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI All-Region teams announced today by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

Freshmen Jaden Ainley of Clear Lake, Rebekah Fuller of Bondurant and Reanna Hutchinson of Eau Claire, Wis., were honored. Ainley was named to the first team, Fuller to the second team and Hutchinson to the third team.

 

Ainley finished the season as the third highest scorer in the ICCAC in conference games only, averaged 14.3 points a game overall and led the conference in free throws made with 109. Ainley, who started 28 of 30 games this season, scored 428 points. She shot 42 percent from the field, hitting 139 of 335 field goal attempts. Ainley was 41-of-135 from three-point range for 30 percent and her 109 free throws came from 156 attempts for 70 percent. Ainley's season also included 162 rebounds, 55 assists, 58 steals and one blocked shot.

 

Fuller, who started 26 of 30 games, scored 255 points and averaged 8.5 points a game. She was 111-of-214 from the field for 52 percent and was 33-of-66 from the free throw line for 50 percent. Fuller's season also included 144 rebounds, 27 assists, 24 steals and 35 blocked shots.

 

Hutchinson scored 304 points and averaged 10.1 points a game. She shot 42 percent from the field, making 115 of 273 field goal attempts. Hutchinson was 51 of 155 from three-point range for 33 percent and made 23 of 37 free throw attempts for 62 percent.

Hutchinson, who started 17 of 30 games, finished the season with 94 rebounds, 30 assists, 26 steals and six blocked shots.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team ended the season at 18-12. The Bears were 9-7 in the ICCAC and were the No. 5 seed in the NJCAA Region XI Basketball Tournament. Their season came to a close following a 75-64 loss to North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
