DMACC's Magan Christopherson and Reagan Franzen earn all-region honors
  • Christopherson led the Bears in scoring and finished third in the ICCAC
  • Christopherson also led DMACC in three-point shooting with 71 three-pointers
  • Franzen was the Bears' No. 2 rebounder with 233 total rebounds

 

Two members of the DMACC women's DMACC women's basketball team basketball team, Covid-19 freshman Magan Christopherson of Milford and freshman Reagan Franzen of Polk City have been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJACC) Region XI All-Region Women's Basketball Team. Christopherson was named to the first team and Franzen was named to the third team.

 

Christopherson led the Bears in a number of offensive categories, including points, three-point field goals and assists. She scored 475 points and averaged 17 points a game. Christopherson shot 36 percent from the field, hitting 166 of 467 field goal attempts. She was 71-of-237 from three-point range for 30 percent and made 72 of 88 free throw attempts for 82 percent. Christopherson finished third in scoring in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

Christopherson's season also included 137 rebounds, including 113 defensive rebounds, 100 assists, 45 steals and five blocked shots.

 

Franzen was DMACC's No. 2 rebounder with 233, including 139 defensive rebounds, and averaged 7.5 rebounds a game. She scored 217 points and averaged seven points a game. Franzen shot 44 percent from the field, making 71 of 163 field goal attempts. She was 8-of-29 from three-point range for 28 percent and made 67 of 80 free throw attempts for 84 percent.

 

Franzen's season also included 85 assists, 41 steals and three blocked shots.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team concluded the 2021-22 season with a 15-17 overall record and a 6-14 mark in the ICCAC. The Bears advanced to the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Region XI Women's Basketball Tournament where they were eliminated by Kirkwood Community College (KCC).
