The 2021-22 DMACC women's basketball team's season and the 17-year coaching career of Steve Krafcisin came to an end with an 89-33 loss to Kirkwood Community College (KCC) March 2 at Cedar Rapids. The loss came in the quarterfinals of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Women's Basketball Tournament.

KCC led throughout the game. The Eagles were up 32-6 at the end of the first quarter, 51-12 at halftime and 74-17 at the end of the third quarter.

Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Lexi Branning of Manning led the Bears with seven points. CoFR Magan Christopherson of Milford and freshman Payton Tahahwah of Tama scored six points apiece.

DMACC shot just 25 percent in the loss, making 11 of 44 field goal attempts. The Bears were 2-of-17 from three-point range and 9-of-10 from the free throw line.

KCC came away with a 38-36 advantage on the boards with freshman Reagan Franzen of Polk City leading DMACC with eight. CoFR Emily Caspers of Swaledale had seven rebounds and CoFR Camry Jones of Okoboji added four. Franzen topped the Bears in assists with six and she and Branning led DMACC in steals with two apiece.
