DMACC women's basketball team falls to NIACC, 74-51

Covid-19 freshman Magan Christopherson of Milford scored 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds and CoFR Emily Caspers of Swaledale had 11 points and seven rebounds as the DMACC women's basketball team dropped a 74-51 decision to North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) February 10 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

The loss was the 13th of the season for the Bears against 12 victories. They are 4-11 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.

 

NIACC led throughout the game. The Trojans were up 15-9 at the end of the first quarter and had a 31-14 advantage at halftime. They led 63-29 at the end of the third quarter.

 

DMACC shot 33 percent in the loss, making 20 of 61 field goal attempts. The Bears were 6-of-29 from three-point range and 5-of-9 from the free throw line.

 

Christopherson and freshman Reagan Franzen of Polk City had nine rebounds apiece and CoFR Emily Caspers of Swaledale came away with seven, helping DMACC to a 47-35 advantage on the boards. Christopherson dished out a team-high four assists and CoFR Camry Jones of Okoboji and freshman Payton Tahahwah of Tama had three assists apiece. Franzen led the Bears in steals with two.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team will play Southeastern Community College (SECC) Feb. 12 at Keokuk. SECC is 13-13 overall and 8-8 in the ICCAC. The Blackhawks defeated DMACC 81-68 when the two teams played Jan. 31 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
