DMACC women's basketball team tops RCTC, 75-57

 

Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Magan Christopherson of Milford scored a season-high 34 points to lead the DMACC women's basketball team to a 75-57 win over Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) November 19 at Rochester, Minn.

 

CoFR Emily Caspers of Swaledale scored 18 points and freshman Payton Tahahwah of Tama added 13 points as the Bears improved to 6-1 with their fifth consecutive victory.

 

Christopherson's 34 points included seven three-pointers. She was 11-of-19 from the field and her seven three-pointers came from 12 attempts. Christopherson made five of seven free throw attempts.

 

Caspers was 8-of-9 from the field and Tahahwah went 5-of-11 as the Bears shot 49 percent in the win. They made 26 of 53 field goal attempts, went 9-of-24 from three-point range and 14-of-18 from the free throw line.

 

DMACC led throughout the game. The Bears were up 20-9 at the end of the first quarter, 38-25 at halftime and 52-46 at the end of the third quarter.

 

Tahahwah had eight rebounds and Christopherson and Caspers had six apiece as RCTC outrebounded the Bears, 31-30. Christopherson topped DMACC in assists with six and Tahahwah had five assists and a team-high three steals. Freshman Jadeyn Smith of Arcadia also had three steals win the win.

The DMACC women's basketball team will play Black Hawk College (BHC) November 23. Game time is 5:30 p.m. inside the DMACC gymnasium.
