DMACC women's basketball team rolls past William Penn JV, 84-56
  • Bears lead 28-9 after the first quarter and cruise to the win
  • Freshman Reagan Franzen of Polk City records a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds

Freshman Reagan Franzen of Polk City and Covid-19 freshman (CoFR) Emily Caspers of Swaledale recorded double-doubles as the DMACC women's basketball team handed the William Penn University junior varsity (WPUJV) an 84-56 loss November 10 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

The Bears led all the way in improving to 2-1 for the season. They had a 28-9 advantage at the end of the first quarter, led 55-22 at halftime and were up 71-38 at the end of the third quarter.

 

Three other DMACC players joined Franzen and Caspers in double figures. CoFR Magan Christopherson of Milford and freshman Shakara Robertson of Cocoa, Fla., had 14 points apiece and freshman Jadeyn Smith of Arcadia scored 12 points.

 

The Bears shot 49 percent in the win, making 36 field goals in 74 attempts. They were 5-of-17 from three-point range and 7-of-11 from the free throw line.

 

Franzen and Caspers staked DMACC to a 62-42 advantage in rebounding. CoFR Camry Jones of Okoboji also reached double figures in rebounds with 10. Christopherson and freshman Payton Tahahwah of Tama dished out four assists apiece and Franzen added three. Franzen and Robertson led DMACC in steals with four apiece and Christopherson blocked two shots.

The DMACC women's basketball team will play Highland (Kan.) Community College (HCC) November 13 at Highland, Kan., and will face the Graceland University junior varsity (GUJV) Nov. 14 at Lamoni.
