Jenna Bohaty of Millard West High School in Omaha, Neb., has signed a national letter of intent to attend Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and play women's basketball.

Bohaty is the third commitment to the DMACC women's basketball program for the 2020-21 school year. Other commitments are Emily Caspers of West Fork High School in Sheffield and Grace Flanagan of North Linn High School in Coggon.

Bohaty said she chose DMACC because it seemed to be the right place for her to attend college.

"When I walked into the gym, I felt at home for the next year or two," Bohaty said. "I did not have any prior knowledge about DMACC. All I had heard was that (DMACC women's basketball coach Steve Krafcisin) is an amazing coach that I can learn from and that (assistant women's basketball coach Jocelyn Kovarik) as an academic advisor will help get everything planned out."

Bohaty said Krafcisin will push her because he knows her potential.

"I just need someone to take a chance on me to help me grow," Bohaty said. "As for my career, DMACC is going to help me get a jump start on my general education for occupational therapy."

Bohaty participates only in basketball at Millard West High School. She has earned all-state honorable mention the past two seasons and has lettered in academics throughout high school. She carries a grade point average above 3.0.
