Grace Flanagan of North Linn High School in Coggon has signed a national letter of intent to attend Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and play women's basketball.

Flanagan is the second commitment to the DMACC women's basketball program for the 2020-21 school year, joining Emily Caspers of West Fork High School in Sheffield.

Flanagan said her reasons for choosing DMACC include living in the apartment complex as opposed to living in a dorm and because all of her classes will be located in one building she'll have easy access to her instructors.

Flanagan also said the DMACC athletic programs appear to be one big family and she feels like the coaches truly care about their players.

"Attending DMACC will help me further my athletic plans by gaining playing experience at the college level," Flanagan said. "It will also help me be a stronger and better player. (Attending DMACC) will help my career aspirations by finishing my general education requirements before attending a four-year college."

As a junior, Flanagan averaged 18.4 points and 4.6 rebounds a game. She shot 41 percent from the field, hitting 140 of 345 field goal attempts. Flanagan was 82-of-207 from three-point range for 40 percent and connected on 61 of 68 free throw attempts for 90 percent. She pulled down 105 rebounds, including 77 defensive rebounds. Flanagan's season also included 108 assists, 69 steals and one blocked shot.

Flanagan earned first-team all-conference honors and all-district honors in 2017, 2018 and 2019. She was the KGYM Athlete of the Week in 2017 and 2018 and received second-team all-state honors in 2018 and 2019.

Flanagan also participates in softball at North Linn High School, earning second-team all-conference honors in 2016 and first-team all-conference in 2017, 2018 and 2019. She was named to the all-district first team in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and earned third-team all-state honors in 2017, second-team all-state honors in 2018 and first-team all-state honors in 2019.

Flanagan is a member of the National Honor Society and a four-year member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).
