DMACC’S Joniqua Clark Earns ICCAC Honors for Second Time

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's basketball player Joniqua Clark the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II women's basketball for the week of December 11 to 17.

 

The honor is the second for Clark, a sophomore from Cedar Rapids. She was also honored for the week of Nov. 27 to Dec. 3.

 

Clark scored a season-high 30 points in leading the Bears to a 76-67 win over Kansas City (Kan.) Community College (KCKCC) on Dec. 14. She was 9-of-19 from the floor in the game, including 3-of-6 from three-point range, and made nine of her 10 free throw attempts. Clark also has five assists and four rebounds in the win.

 

KCKCC came into the game ranked 17th in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll. DMACC improved to 11-3 with the win.

 

For the season, Clark is leading DMACC in scoring with a 14.8 average. She is 41-of-110 from the field for 41 percent and has made 11 of 33 three point attempts for 33 percent. Clark is 47-of-73 from the free throw line and has collected 41 rebounds, dished out 61 assists and has 24 steals.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team is idle until Jan. 7 when the Bears will face the Mount Mercy University junior varsity at Cedar Rapids.
