Clark, Shockley Lead DMACC Women's Basketball Team Past Adelaide, 73-70

Sophomore Joniqua Clark of Cedar Rapids scored 18 points and sophomore Regan Shockley of Hartley added 14 points to lead the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's basketball team to a 73-70 win over Adelaide (Australia) November 25 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Clark's line included five rebounds, five assists and four steals as the Bears improved to 7-2 for the season with their third consecutive victory. Freshman Allee Ira of Altoona also scored in double figures in the game, finishing with 10 points.

 

The two teams were tied at 16 at the end of the first quarter and DMACC forged a 36-30 advantage at halftime. The Bears led 55-50 at the end of the third quarter.

 

DMACC shot 38 percent in the win, draining 27 of 72 field goal attempts, including 8-of-18 from three-point range. The Bears were 11-of-18 from the free throw line.

 

Adelaide came away with a 54-44 advantage on the boards with sophomore Molly Mitchell of Okoboji leading DMACC with 11 rebounds. Mitchell also had four assists in the win.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team will host Marshalltown Community College (MCC) November 28. Game time is 5:30 p.m. inside the DMACC gymnasium
