DMACC’S Beth Atwood Named ICCAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women's basketball player Beth Atwood the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II women's basketball for the week of October 30 to November 5.

 

Atwood, a sophomore from Packwood, was 6-of-12 from the field and 15-of-21 from the free throw line in helping the Bears to wins over Little Priest Tribal and Southeast (Neb.) Community College (SECC). She averaged a double-double for the two games, scoring 27 points and grabbing 26 rebounds.

 

The Bears improved to 3-0 for the season with a 69-50 win over the Mount Mercy University junior varsity on Nov. 7.

 

Through three games, Atwood is averaging 10 points a game on 44 percent shooting from the field and 70 percent shooting from the free throw line. She has made seven of 16 field goal attempts and is 16-of-23 from the free throw line. Atwood is averaging 11 rebounds a game and her 33 rebounds include 26 defensive rebounds. She also has six assists and three steals this season.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team will play in the Hawks Classic Nov. 10 and 11 at Norfolk, Neb. The Bears will face North Platte Community College (NPCC) and will play Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) on Nov. 11.
