DMACC's Erin Ades named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Softball

  • Ades hit two doubles, a triple and four home runs in eight games
  • Ades leads the Bears in home runs with 10

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Erin Ades the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Softball for the week of March 31 to April 6.

 

Ades, a freshman from Boone, is being honored for the first time this season and she is one of seven members of the DMACC softball team to be honored by the conference this season. Sophomore Bre Caffery of Bettendorf, freshman Macee Reilling of Dallas Center and sophomore Hilary Wilson of Solon have been honored for their hitting, Caffery the week of March 24, to 30, Reilling the week of Feb. 24 to March 2 and Wilson the week of Feb. 17 to 23.

 

DMACC freshmen Kierra Jungers of Fonda and Jacki Baas of Bondurant and sophomore Macy Blomgren of Waukee have been honored for their pitching, Jungers the weeks of March 24 to 30, March 27 to 23, March 3 to 9, Feb. 24 to March 2 and Feb. 17 to 23. Blomgren was honored the week of Feb. 10 to 16 and Baas the week of March 31 to April 6.

 

Ades batted .536 (15-for-28) with 13 runs scored and 13 runs batted in as the Bears compiled an 7-1 record during the week. Her hits included four home runs, a triple and two doubles.

 

Ades was 2-for-2 with a home run, one run scored and three runs driven in as the Bears defeated Ellsworth Community College (ECC), 8-0, in the first game of a doubleheader March 31 at the DMACC softball diamond. She went 1-for-2 with a triple, one run scored and one RBI in a 13-0 win in the second game.

 

Ades had three hits in four at-bats, including a home run, scored three runs and one RBI in a 5-2 win over Kirkwood Community College (KCC) in the first game of a doubleheader April 3 at Cedar Rapids. She was 1-for-4 in the second game.

 

On April 4, Ades went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two runs driven in as the Bears handed Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) a 12-4 loss in the first game of a doubleheader at the DMACC softball diamond. She was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and three RBIs in a 14-0 win in the second game.

 

Ades had two hits in four at-bats, including a home run, scored one run and drove in one run in a 9-3 loss to Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) in the first game of a doubleheader April 6 at the DMACC softball diamond. She had one hit, scored two runs and drove in two runs in a 10-2 win in the second game.

 

Ades is batting .468 with a .527 on-base percentage and a .899 slugging percentage this season. She has 51 hits in 109 at-bats and her hits include 11 doubles, three triples and a team-leading 10 home runs. Ades has driven in 42 runs and scored 48 runs. She is fifth in the ICCAC in home runs.

 

Ades, a shortstop, has a .958 fielding percentage. She has 30 putouts, 38 assists and three errors in 71 chances this season.

 

The DMACC softball team, 33-4 overall and 9-1 in the ICCAC, is ranked seventh in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The Bears will face North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) in a doubleheader today at Mason City. NIACC, ranked 16th in NJCAA Division II, is 22-12 overall and 7-3 in the ICCAC.
