The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Macee Reiling the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II softball for the week of February 24 to March 2.
Reiling, a freshman from Dallas Center, is being honored for the first time this season and she is one of four members of the DMACC softball team to be honored by the conference this season. Freshman Kierra Jungers of Fonda has been honored for her pitching performances twice, the week of Feb. 24 to March 2 and the week of Feb. 17 to 23. Sophomore Macy Blomgren of Waukee was honored for her pitching performances the week of Feb. 10 to 16 and sophomore Hilary Wilson of Solon was honored for her hitting the week of Feb. 17 to 23.
Reiling batted .583 with seven hits in 12 at-bats as DMACC went 3-1 in the Coach David Carnell Challenge Feb. 28 and March 1 at Booneville, Miss. Her seven hits included five doubles and she drove in four runs and scored eight runs.
Reiling had one hit, a double, drove in one run and scored two runs in a 12-10 loss to Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC) on Feb. 28 and came away with two doubles and scored three runs in a 9-0 win over Shawnee Community College (SCC), also on Feb. 28. Reilling had three hits, including a double, drove in three runs and scored one run in an 8-0 win over Mineral Area College (MAC) on March 1 and had one hit and scored two runs in a 10-2 win over NEMCC, also on March 1.
Reiling is batting .428 with a .500 on-base percentage and a .969 slugging percentage this season. She has 14 hits in 32 at-bats with 12 RBIs and 13 runs scored. Her 14 hits include eight doubles and three home runs. Reiling has struck out just three times.
The DMACC softball team, 9-2 and ranked ninth in this week's Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), will play in the Grand Slam Classic March 6 to 8 at Branson, Mo. The Bears will face Cowley County Community College (CCCC) and Allen County Community College (ACCC) on March 7 and will play Northern Oklahoma College-Enid (NOCE) and Neosho County Community College (NCCC) on March 8.
