DMACC's Courtney Donahue named ICCAC Pticher of the Week
  • Donahue compiled a 2-1 record during the week
  • Donahue allowed two hits in a 5-1 win over Northwest Mississippi CC
  • Donahue allowed just one hit in an eight-inning 1-0 win over Jones College

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Courtney Donahue the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Softball for the week of February 28 to March 3.

 

The honor is the second of the season for Donahue and she is one of two members of the DMACC softball team to be honored by the conference this season. Donahue was also honored for the week of Feb. 12 to 18 and freshman Hilary Wilson of Solon was honored for her hitting performances the week of Feb. 12 to 18.

 

Donahue, a sophomore from Marshfield, Wis., was 2-1 during the week. She allowed three runs on four hits, struck out eight and walked one in the Bears' 3-0 loss to Northwest Mississippi Community College (NWMCC) on Feb. 29 at Senatobia, MS, and then picked up wins against Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC) on March 2 and Jones College (JC) on March 3.

 

Donahue allowed one run on two hits and struck out 11 in a 5-1 win over NEMCC at Booneville, MS, and allowed just one hit with 13 strikeouts and two walks in an eight-inning 1-0 win over JC at Fulton, MS.

 

DMACC is ranked 12th in this week's Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). JC is ranked eighth and NEMCC is 11th.

 

Donahue is 4-1 with an 0.52 earned run average this season. She has pitched 34 innings, allowing five runs, three earned runs, on 12 hits with 58 strikeouts and seven walks. She is averaging 11.94 strikeouts per seven innings.

 

Donahue leads the ICCAC in strikeouts and is second in wins and earned run average.

 

Although Donahue is not a regular in DMACC's batting lineup, she has compiled a .429 batting average with .429 on-base percentage and a .571 slugging percentage. She has three hits, including a double, in seven at-bats.

 

The DMACC softball team plays a doubleheader against Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) March 10 at Council Bluffs.
