DMACC's Amaya Snyder named NJCAA and ICCAC Athlete of the Week
  • Snyder batted .580 in eight games during the week

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) and the National Junior College Atheletic Association (NJCAA) has named DMAC's Amaya Snyder the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Softball for the week of March 20 to 26.

Snyder is the second member of the DMACC softball team to be honored by the conference this spring. Sophomore Kendal Clark of Humboldt earned the honor for the week of March 6 to 12.

Snyder, a freshman from Cedar Rapids, had 14 hits in 26 at-bats during the week, helping the Bears to six wins in eight games. Her 14 hits included four doubles and four home runs and her OPS (on-base percentage and slugging percentage) for the week was 1.754.

Snyder's best games came in wins against Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) and North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC). Snyder had a double and a home run in two at-bats and drove in two runs in a 10-0 win over NECC in the first game of a doubleheader on March 20. She was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBIs in a 10-2 win in the second game of that doubleheader.

Snyder homered and drove in three runs in a 10-4 win over NIACC on March 24 and she had four hits, including a double and two home runs in a 12-11 win over the Trojans on March 25.

Snyder leads Division II of the ICCAC in home runs with 11 and is second in RBIs with 43.

Snyder is batting .432 with a .482 on-base percentage and a .622 slugging percentage this spring. She has 40 hits in 85 at-bats. In addition to 11 home runs, Snyder has 10 doubles and a triple. She has scored 32 runs.
