DMACC men's cross country team finishes second in national championships

 

Freshmen Caden Brown of Muscatine and Eli Page of Vinton led the way as the DMACC men's cross country team finished second in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Cross Country Championships November 9 at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va.

 

The Bears scored 102 points and finished 36 points behind the winning score of 66 points by Lansing Community College (LCC).

 

Jackson Bland of Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) took individual honors with a time of 25 minutes, 14 seconds over the 8K course.

 

Brown finished sixth in the individual competition, posting a time of 25:32 seconds and earning second-team All-American honors. Page finished in 14th place with a time of 25:59.

 

Other DMACC results included a 19th-place finish from sophomore Will Thompson of Clive, a 28th-place finish from freshman Zack Stoermer of Des Moines and a 35-place finish from sophomore Jordan King of Ogden. Thompson posted a time of 26:11, Stoermer crossed the finish line in 26:32 and King's time was 26:36.

 

DMACC freshman Daniel Schoening of Ankeny and sophomore Owen Almelien of Greene also ran in the meet. Schoening was 37th in 26:42 and Almelien placed 40th with a time of 26:45.

 

The meet closed out the season for the DMACC men's cross country team.
